IGWG Technical Update on Child Marriage

The Interagency Gender Working Group (IGWG) held a discussion on child marriage and its negative implications for public health and human rights, including the range of child marriage practices globally, their cultural significance, and relevance to reproductive health.

Highlights of the event included:

  • Dissemination and discussion of a DHS analysis on child marriage prevalence and predictors as well as a web-based review by ICRW of promising interventions
  • Speakers from various field interventions such as BRAC (Bangladesh), the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association, and Tostan (Senegal)

Organized by Population Reference Bureau (PRB) and the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) for the Interagency Gender Working Group (IGWG).
