This introduction to GBV focuses on intimate partner violence in the context of reproductive health. Workshop participants explore how GBV is defined, the types of violence it includes, violence that occurs through a woman's life cycle, and its impact on women's health. Recent DHS and WHO data and country-specific health data is discussed. Participants also explore the myths and realities of GBV and why many women remain in violent relationships, as well as examine strategies to address GBV and how to apply these to their own projects.

Workshop on mainstreaming gender in approaches to gender-based violence for USAID/Peru and CAs. Resulted in draft six-month strategic plan for the Ministry of Health to implement GBV services in three districts in the country. In addition, the team helped the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs to prioritize communication activities to reduce gender-based violence in border regions of the country.
