2019 IGWG Plenary: Gender in a Changing World New Opportunities, New Challenges
May 29 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
The global landscape is shifting every day, and those shifts have implications for gender equality and the work of gender champions. Evidence continues to point to the importance of cross-sectoral efforts when addressing gender equality and development. This year’s plenary will highlight new opportunities and strategies for advancing gender equality and health, and offer a space for the IGWG community to provide input on new and persistent challenges. As with past IGWG plenaries, 2019’s plenary also provides time for IGWG members to network with one another and for the IGWG team to gather ideas and suggestions to strengthen the community.
Register to attend: Space is limited, so please RSVP for the event by May 15, 2019.
This year we are introducing a new format for the plenary—the Gender Marketplace. Following short technical presentations that have been selected in response to members’ proposals, presenters will lead small, focused discussions as part of a gender marketplace aimed at enabling interactive learning and engagement. The IGWG is particularly interested in showcasing gender and health work that intersects with other sectoral efforts (such as education, energy, governance, resilience, and humanitarian contexts).
Call for submissions: Do you have new results from your work on gender and health issues and a challenge or question about where to go next? Apply to present at the plenary as a Gender Marketplace lead! You’ll have the opportunity to present your work and facilitate a discussion session with IGWG members to receive multiple perspectives on the issue you face. Check out this link to learn more, and fill out the form if you are interested. The call for submissions closes on April 24, 2019.
