SUMMARY:Spring Dialogues: IGWG Members Lead the Conversation!
DESCRIPTION:Spring Dialogues: IGWG Members Lead the Conversation! \nRead key takeaways from the event here. \nWhy: \n\nExchange ideas\, experiences\, and lessons learned among IGWG members and colleagues working on the ground to tackle common challenges in health programming while advancing gender equality.\nDialogue with the IGWG community on key issues of interest as identified by members in the most recent survey.\nProvide an opportunity for IGWG members from around the world to lead interactive discussions.\n\nIn March 2021\, the IGWG conducted a survey to better understand members’ technical topics of interest and preferred ways to engage to help shape our events for the year. Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey. We heard you and used the results to shape the format and content of our upcoming interactive events. \nWe eagerly invite you to the 2021 IGWG Spring Dialogues to converse with and learn from your fellow IGWG members and gender champions from around the world. During this event we will draw on the rich expertise of this global gender community to exchange ideas\, experiences\, and lessons learned across different contexts on common challenges and approaches in advancing gender equality in health programming. We are thrilled that for the first time\, IGWG members in-country will lead the discussion groups on topics selected through the survey. \nWith virtual engagement as the new normal\, we have the exciting opportunity to learn from and engage in dialogue with a broader and more diverse group of gender equality champions from around the world. The Spring Dialogues will feature the following three roundtable discussion groups\, facilitated by members based outside of the United States: \n\nSupporting Gender Transformative Approaches in Adolescent-Focused Programs—Sushmita Mukherjee\, Director\, Gender and Adolescent Girls\, Project Concern International\, India\nAre gender transformative interventions with young people working? Why or why not? What is the impact of COVID-19 on gender transformative approaches?\n\n\nEffectively Advocating for Gender Transformative Change Within Our Public Health Institutions—Amy Oyekunle\, Independent Consultant with expertise on girls and gender-related program design\, Nigeria\nHow can we be effective advocates for gender transformational change within our organizations? What resource materials are useful in supporting institutional commitments to gender equality?\nSupporting Health Care Providers to Better Respond to Gender-Based Violence—Oluseyi Olorunfemi\, Senior Gender Mainstreaming and Knowledge Management Officer\, Centre for Integrated Health Programs\, Nigeria\nHow can we establish effective referral networks between health providers and GBV-specific services? How do we ensure self-care for providers who deal with GBV?\n\nAny questions or inquiries? Please get in touch with the IGWG team at igwg@prb.org. \n
