In Myanmar, a surge in conflict, growing internal displacement, and the impacts of Cyclone Mocha have placed people, particularly women, in dangerous environments. The rise in gender disparities in employment due to the ongoing conflict has only heightened the vulnerability of women to trafficking and gender-based violence. In addition, the decline of the health system has left many women without access to vital health services. This report highlights the devastating situation in Myanmar and underscores the pressing need for assistance in bolstering the country’s economic and health systems.

An accountable gender-based violence (GBV) humanitarian response system is characterized by how decisions are made and implemented. This report examines how responsible authorities can plan and implement accountable GBV prevention and response systems for affected people, how life-saving information should be provided to survivors and those at high risk of GBV during and after emergencies, and how GBV in emergencies programming can be designed with the participation of survivors.

It supports coordination among service providers to meet the needs of survivors. It safely links survivors to supportive and competent services in a timely way and includes any or all of the following: safety and security, health, case management, psychosocial, legal/justice, and follow-up services.
