Religion and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence: Setting the Stage

Presentation Summary: Introduction to Joint Learning Initiative’s (JLI) Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Resource Hub. JLI’s hub houses a wide variety of resources from secular NGOs and academic institutions to the case studies of faith-based interventions to prevent and respond to GBV. The presentation closes with a case study on the impact of a faith-based intervention on GBV and child protection issues from Islamic Relief Worldwide.

Presented by: Jean Duff is the Coordinator for the Joint Learning Initiative on Faith & Local Communities, which is an international collaboration on evidence for faith groups’ activities, contribution and challenges to community health and wellbeing. JLI formed in 2012 and houses several resource hubs on the impact of faith-based groups in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
